This is one of the business class programs. To be eligible under the Self Employed class, the principal applicant must meet the following minimum requirements:

You must:
have at least two years of relevant experience that is gained during the period starting five years before the day you apply and ending on the day a decision on your application is made. The experience must be:

 for cultural activities:
a. two one-year periods of experience in self-employment in cultural activities, or
b. two one-year periods of experience in participation at 
world class level in cultural activities, or

c. a combination of a one-year period of experience described in A above, and a one-year period of experience described in B above.

 for athletics:
a. two one-year periods of experience in self-employment in athletics, or
b. two one-year periods of experience in participation at a world
class level in athletics, or
c. a combination of a one-year period of experience described in 1 above, and a one-year period of experience described in 2 above, and

 for buying and managing a farm, two one-year periods of experience managing a farm.
You must:
a. intend and be able to be self-employed in Canada, and
b. can contribute to Canada’s economy in one of the required areas.


If you meet all the conditions set out in the minimum requirements listed above, your application will be assessed based on the following factors:
 experience,
 education,
 age,
 language abilities, and
 adaptability.

 A contribution to athletics or the arts, even at less than a national standard, may still be significant at the local level.
 Please note that you must contribute to economic activities in Canada. This does not mean you cannot contribute to some activities outside of Canada

Medical, security and other requirements
 You and your family members must have a medical exam done and get police certificates.
 You must also show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you get to Canada
